Thank you for your interest in joining the Board of Directors at Texas Dance Hall Preservation (TDHP), a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 2007. As a small but impactful nonprofit, we are dedicated to preserving and promoting historic Texas dance halls—iconic spaces where music, culture, and community have come together for generations.
We are seeking dynamic individuals who are passionate about our mission and eager to contribute their time, expertise, and resources to help us protect these cultural landmarks for the future.
What Board Members Do
TDHP board members serve as ambassadors, advisors, and champions for our work. As part of the board, your responsibilities will include:
- Attending four regular board meetings per year (held via Zoom)
- Working on at least one committee or special project
- Making a personally meaningful financial contribution each year as stipulated by Board of Directors. A “give or get” contribution of $600 in Year 1 and $1,000 in Year 2 is required. “Give or Get” means that a director can personally donate a $1,000 or assist in personally raising $1,000.
- Participating in TDHP events and fundraisers, when possible
- Amplifying our mission through your networks and social media
- Helping identify and engage donors, sponsors, and partners
- Reviewing board materials in advance and contributing actively to discussions
- Upholding the legal, ethical, and fiduciary duties of board service
- If serving as an officer, attend executive committee meetings (via zoom)

We also ask that board members support a culture of respect, kindness, and transparency, and represent the organization with integrity in all public and private settings.

What You Can Expect
Board service is a rewarding opportunity to help sustain a vital part of Texas’ cultural history. TDHP offers:
- A collaborative working relationship with the Executive Director and fellow board members
- Opportunities to make a tangible impact on communities across Texas
- Directors & Officers (D&O) for our board members and General Liability insurance for the organization.
- A chance to use your voice, skills, and connections for lasting good
Whether your background is in preservation, music, business, law, fundraising, finance, or simply a love of dance halls and Texas heritage—we welcome your perspective.
If you’re ready to help us keep Texas dance halls thriving, we’d love to hear from you.
