Save the Date!
The 2020 Texas Dance Hall Tour is in the works. Halls and bands will be announced soon, but in the meantime, mark your calendars and plan to join us on October 22–25, 2020, when we return to Central Texas for another exciting weekend of dancing, fun, and friendship!
Asleep at the Wheel will not be participating this year, while they celebrate the band’s 50th year in show business, but they have two special shows in Austin the previous weekend (ticketed separately) for folks who want to get started early.
About the Texas Dance Hall Tour:
In 2017, 2018, and 2019, Western swing band Asleep at the Wheel — led by Texas Dance Hall Preservation board member Ray Benson in collaboration with TDHP — took Texas dance hall aficionados on a “land cruise,” showcasing multiple halls and other Texas bands during four days of dances and culture-rich daytime activities. Lifelong friendships were made among attendees, people from 24 states, Canada, and Australia learned about new-to-them dance halls.
Are you interested in setting up a tour of Texas dance halls for your group? With sufficient advanced notice, TDHP staff can develop a custom tour to meet your needs. Prices vary. Please contact us for more information.

“We’ve been on 3 dance hall tours. Each one has been a unique experience in historic halls with great Texas music as a backdrop. We celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary on a dance hall tour — it was one of our most memorable trips together in the Texas Hill Country.” – Tracy R.
