Steve Dean
A veteran of the Texas music scene for
over three decades, Steve has a
passion for finding and documenting
historic dance halls and other music
venues. As he has traveled the state
he has marked over 500 dance halls in
his road atlas, and collected
thousands of photos. He is presently
writing a book on Texas Dance Halls
for the University of Texas Press.
In his varied career, he has been a
historian, disc jockey, music journalist
and archivist, club manager/booking
agent, curator, collector, festival
promoter, and most of all music lover!
Steve is co-owner of the The Oaks
Music Venue in Manor, just east of
Austin.
Steve's focus on the board is to find all
the dance halls in Texas, and be a link
to the vast Texas music industry.
